Eyebrow Grooming and Tweezing Tips for TG Women ~ Ideal for the Cross Dresser
TG LIFE by Denae Doyle
For many cross dressers having too thin of an eyebrow is the first thing, which will give you away while in “guy mode”. Here are some great tips for getting your eyebrows cleaned up and presentable for both male and female mode.
How your eyebrows are groomed can make a considerable difference in your appearance. Eyebrows help shape your eyes and give you character. If you have bushy eyebrows, it’s important to keep them trimmed and well groomed. Most people need some kind of eyebrow maintenance. Many of these tips work well for women, men and especially for the cross dresser; who doesn’t want that “why are his eyebrows so thin” look.
Never shave your eyebrows for a quick fix. You will regret it later when they all start growing back in. It will look obvious, and require constant maintenance — so save the razor for your shaving.
Depilatories are not a good idea to use around the eye area and there’s plenty of room for mistakes. This can irritate your skin and your hairs will also grow back much quicker than waxing or tweezing.
Waxing your eyebrows is best done professionally, however there are many kits on the market for this purpose. They come with step-by-step instructions to simplify the process. If you decide to do this at home, have a professional do it the first time so you can see how it’s done. Be prepared for some temporary discomfort and pain.
Trimming Your Eyebrows
Depending on how thick your eyebrows are, sometimes all you need is a small pair of scissors to trim away the stray hairs. Grooming and trimming your brows is best done under a bright light for accuracy.
First decide what areas need attention and slowly trim the tips of your eyebrows in the direction of hair growth. Don’t go overboard, if you trim your hairs too short, they will stick out and look silly. You may want to do this over a few days, after you have a chance to decide if you’re on the right track.
Plucking away Stray Eyebrow Hairs
Aside from waxing, tweezing is still the most efficient method for removing eyebrow hairs. If you need to pluck your eyebrows, keep a clean pair of tweezers handy for this use only.
Men are tempted to use tweezers for other things, such as cleaning their fingernails. Don’t! This will make them unsanitary and less affective. If you do this, you’ll probably need to buy a new pair when the ends don’t meet properly to grab the hairs.
Start off with moistened brows. Tweezing after a shower is ideal, but you can soak your brow area with a warm washcloth for several minutes and it will have the same effect. Comb your eyebrows in the direction of their growth and let them fall naturally in place.
After deciding which areas need thinning out, tweeze your eyebrows in the direction of hair growth. For an even look, start underneath, from the inside, out. Pull them out one by one to avoid mistakes. Be careful, some hairs may not grow back! Tweeze the center of your eyebrows and look carefully to make sure you don’t get them too far apart. You can always go back later and remove additional hairs if you need more space.
Don’t pluck away too many hairs from the top of your brow as this will destroy the natural shape; this is how TG women end up with to thin of eyebrows. It is best to pull hairs from below, not going into the main brow area. Again, remove only a few stray hairs from above as the most important hair to remove is below and you will start from the center, then outwards.
If you have some gray eyebrow hair, it is best to have them professionally dyed. I feel this is very important, for both guy mode and female mode. Men today are waxing or coloring their eyebrows and/or their body hair, so don’t be shy! This is great news for the TG woman, so locate a nail salon, (and even in guy mode) ask if they will assist you with eyebrow trimming, coloring, or even waxing parts of your body if needed.
Correcting Eyebrow Mistakes
Mistakes are bound to happen, even with a steady hand. If you should find yourself with some empty spaces or bald patches, don’t fret. Fill in your eyebrows with an eye pencil or eye shadow that closely resembles the color of your hairs. By grooming your brows and blending in the color, they will look more natural.

Makeup Tips For Different Eye Types
A subtle application of eyeliner, shadows and mascara work together to create magic and make your eyes look their best.
Eye Shadow
Eye shadow is meant to highlight and define the eyes. Eye shadow is used to create depth to bring out the beauty of the eyes. A dark color used on the lid will make the eye appear smaller, while a lighter color will make it appear larger. That is what eye shadow is about – creating illusions. These are the basic techniques for the following eye shapes:
Small eyes: Don’t use too much shadow or liner – it will make you eyes look smaller. Apply a light color on eyelid, use a darker color in the crease and use a highlighter under the brow.
Large eyes: Wear darker shadow on the lid and extend it to the crease. Use a flat color under the brow to highlight.
Deep-set eyes: Use light colors on the eyelid and under the brow. Use a medium color in the crease. Emphasize the outer corners with shadow.
Wide-set eyes: Use darker colors on the inner corners of the eye.
Hooded eyes: Apply light colors on the lid. Use darker colors from the center of the eyelid to the outer corners and blend.
Round eyes: Make round eyes longer by using color all around and extending toward the outer corners.
Oriental eyes: Apply highlighter under the brow. Use light shadow on the inner half of the lid and a darker color on the outer half.
Eyeliners:
Eyeliners are meant to define the eyes so they should do just that; not be the focal point of your makeup. Eyeliners come in various colors and forms liquid, pencil etc. Keep the eyeliner natural. Pencils are available in many colors (for the best look stick to black or brown ) and can be sharpened for a fine line. For a smudged effect use a sponge tip shadow applicator or an eye shadow brush. When your pencils are too soft refrigerate them. When they are too hard soften them by holding them between your fingers.
To line the eye, start on the lower lid, just beneath the lashes. When you are finished always smudge the line with your sponge. Stay as close to the lash line as possible. On the upper lid, draw a line form the inner corner to the outer corner, thickening the line toward the outer corner. After the age of 40 keep the line in between the lashes.
Mascara and the creation of beautiful lashes:
Mascara frames your eyes and can make your face come alive. Mascara softly accentuates the eye while thickening and darkening the lashes; it is the finishing touch for eyes. There are several different types to choose from, thickening, and waterproof to smudge proof. Waterproof will need a special remover and smudge proof will wash off easily. It is not a good idea to wear waterproof mascara for extended periods of time since it has a tendency to dry the lashes.
Select a shade of mascara that complements your coloring. Dark shades on pale eyes with brown lashes will darken them and will look harsh. Stay away from blues and other colors since they will ruin your look.
Lashes that are hard to curl may need the help of an eyelash curler. Curl your lashes before you apply mascara – hold for ten to twenty seconds.
To apply mascara look straight into your mirror with your chin slightly lifted so you can see your lashes. Insert the wand only once and twist, don’t pump. Pumping can break the brush bristles and distribute the mascara unevenly and will dry out the mascara faster. Start by rolling the wand from root to tip in an upward motion. Reinsert the brush and apply again. If your eyelashes are thick and long they may clunk together. If this happens let them dry and then separate them with the corner of an eyebrow brush.
Hello girls, I recently worked with another image consultant, who was taping back her own face, and wig. She used something new..instead of only using medical tape that tends to loosen and fall off. She suggested buying Band Aid Spray, and applying it to the tape used, when pulling back your skin, or for holding on your wigs or partials, with tape. Give it a try, and let me know what you think!
Perfect for step 1 of pulling your facial skin and any excess skin on the front of your neck, with medical tape!

New Tip by Denae. A Full, Partial Hair Piece.
Are you tired of wearing a heavy, hot wig? Denae is now working with one of the
top wig salons (not wig shop) on the west coast. They have developed a new partial wig, that
does not pull down completely over the top of your head. If you watch the newest Tara Banks
television show, you will notice she now wears the newest look in wigs…the partial wig. It lays down flat over the top of your head, with no cap to pull down! You can have any length made, and they will hand make this and add in several colors individually. No thick crown on top!
For girls who are full time, this is a must!!! It is the one accessory you will wear, everytime you
walk outside the door. A bad wig, is an instant give-away. See the attached video clip, for a brief
look at Denae’s newest and long time coming…. answer for the TG woman to finally have natural, flowing hair. If you like the look of
Tara Banks newest long hair, you now can now have the same exact natural look! No cap, no heat, and no fake
look, which is bulky on the top of your head…(which adds 1-2 inches of height)! For girls you live in Northern CA, you can easily set up an appointment with Denae, for beginning the process of making your new partial wig, with several colors, roots and highlights and go directly into the wig salon for size, colors and style and cut. For girls who live out of state, it may be more difficult, but you could mail us a photo of your current wig of choice with the color or choice. Denae can work with you by email and phone, with photos from your current wig choice. The salon will make your partial and cut it to the length desired. Any touch up trimming could be done by your stylist. We will just have to work our way through this, for out of state girls. Or, come to work with me, and your first stop will be San Francisco for your partial, then come and see me. If any of you, would like a consultation in San Francisco for any facial surgery, that could be planned also.
Don’t spend another year, wearing a thick, high crown wig, that does not flow in the wind or move when you jump up and down! Also, for girls who are full time, you can grow out your own thicker hair in the back and sides, and color it to match the wig, and blend them together! Or, just wear the partial. I, recently began wearing one, to experiment with, and I love it! No more time, trying to pull a wig down over your head. This is also an excellent solution for the TG woman who tends to have a larger size head, and finds most wigs are tight! For additional information, email Denae DenaeDoyle@femimage.com Please put Partial Wig Information, in the subject line, and we can speak on the phone.
